In accordance with the Decree of the Dean of Engineering Faculty of Gadjah Mada University (UGM), a library started from 2000, is no longer allowed to be exist and will be substituted by a reference room. The books management initially located in Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, UGM is moved to the Library of Engineering Faculty of UGM. Meanwhile, the service for students for the reference book of subjects and researches is provided in the library of Engineering Faculty of UGM. The number of books related to electrical matters in the Library of Engineering Faculty is around 317 titles with 5649 copies.
Department of Electrical Engineering (JTETI) has a reference room to provide a service for the need of reference for the students and the educational staff located in west of the Lecturer Room at the first floor of JTETI FT UGM. Recently, there are more than 694 titles of book with 1018 copies, 11 titles of magazines/ journal of IEEE with 1924 copies and more than 2100 titles of students’ thesis. In addition, the laboratories assemble a number of specific references that can support the relevant laboratory activities.
Reference Room is also equipped with a photocopier to fulfill the needs of both students and department for copying. Recently, the photocopier can be managed using self-funding and can provide a contribution to the department from the profit obtained. The new facilities in Reference Room are renewed through PHK A2 by adding them with Software of Service of Reference Room and the purchase of a number of new textbooks. Several new devices are also added such as Barcode Scanner and some units of computer for internet access and digital library. The Reference Room as one of the Department facilities is getting crowded for the addition of racks, books and new theses that year by year are getting more.
Reference Room occupying a 54-m2 room now is operated from 07.00 a.m. to 17.00 p.m. with the average of 18.000 visitors in a year. At this moment, this room collects 885 titles and 1393 copies of books, 462 titles of theses, 6 titles and 745 copies of magazines and 896 CD-ROM. To accommodate these books, the old theses and archives of department have been set up in Archives Room in the south of Reference Room.
